Big Whoop
There's not much difference between frozen Minnesota and snowy North Dakota. More grass in the Dakotas. As we moved west, though, the snow disappeared and it was left looking at the badlands just as I had imagined them...grassy and barren.
Mini-sota
First things first, I fell asleep. When I woke up we had made it through Wisconsin and were in the frozen wonderland of Minnesota. I snapped a few pictures and went back to bed (it being nighttime at this point).
The Way To Seattle
There's so many stories to tell about the train, and so many pictures to show. I'm going to split this into a few parts.
The train to Seattle is called the Empire Builder, for what reason I cannot fathom. Rome wasn't built in a day, you know, but the Empire Builder can complete its journey in 46hrs.

Quincy Comes Through
My cousin Quincy came through in the clutch. A night in Chicago, all alone, with nothing to do is not my idea of a good time.
After an hour trying to get a hold of him, Quincy showed up at my hotel. We walked a couple blocks to a bar in the basement of a champagne bar. The drink menu was fitting (after my train wreck). The bathroom was beautiful, with two awesome mirrors.
After a quick drink we took the redline from Grand to Fullerton (4 stops). Somewhere in the middle of the ride, the subway becomes an elevated train. Very strange. It reminded me of when Slartibartfast shows Arthur the "factory floor" in The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.
A short walk brought us to Quincy and Rebecca's apartment. It is a beautiful little space. The three of us spent the night talking and laughing and telling stories.
I feel so blessed that a near-death experience allowed me to meet Rebecca. To spend the night with family, a new friend, and man's best friend (Harper, their dog) is exactly what I needed just then.
Quincy and Rebecca and Harper, love always and forever, from me to you.
