These are the two best meals that I've had recently.
The first picture is from Thanksgiving 2011. John and I cooked almost the entire meal, starting at about nine in the morning and finally sitting down to eat around three. I ate for two hours that night--five full plates (two giant salads, two plates of various cooked veggies, and one meat plate). (Oh, and as many cheesy biscuits as I could muster (and butter...).) Almost all of the food was grown at Five Springs (organic) Farm in Pierport, MI, by my lovely friends Mariah and Casey Dunagua (and whatever help I could muster while I was there, May through thanksgiving eve minus three weeks in August).
The next is from a meal with my buddies Aren and Simi-Sam at Sushi Zen in Ann Arbor. The meal was fantastic. We ordered fifty dollars in gourmet sushi and devoured every last morsel. Then we sat back, marveled at our accomplishment, wondering at how we wanted to order more.
This is turning into something it shouldn't be. It was supposed to be about how, starting tomorrow, I'm going to be eating only cashews, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, and raisins for two days, on my train to Seattle.
